Christmas Pie 2010

It wouldn't be a Morgan Family Christmas without THE PIE! What is The Pie you ask...well, it is a tradition. This tradition has been a part of the Morgan family since my dad was a kid, grew to be my grandparents continuing when I was a kid, then my parents continued as we are grown and they are the grandparents. It is nothing fancy, but it is fun. We each have a small, inexpensive gift wrapped and then a string is tied around that. The string is then pulled through a wrapped bucket of sorts and our name is on the end of the string. We say a little poem..."Little Jack Horner sat in the corner eating his Christmas pie. He stuck in his thumb and pulled out a plum and yelled 'what a good boy am I." When we say the "pulled out a plum" part we all pull our string and our presents go flying. It is a tradition that has been around for years and will continue to be around for years.

Christmas 2010

Christmas 2010 was a great one. We spend Christmas Eve with Ryan's family for dinner and fun. Christmas morning is just us. We had our own tree in the basement and had a great time watching the excitement on the girls faces. Pillow Pets were a very important part of Christmas this year, Santa had to bring them or else! Santa also spoiled our family with a PS3, the Move Bundle, Band Hero, and loads of games and movies.

One of the presents Megan got was to have dance lessons again - she was excited and is loving it. I even caught her dancing around the house the other day and I loved it!

Once There Was A Snowman

We had a snow storm a few days ago and finally made it outside to make a snowman. We waited a day too long because the snow was crusted over with ice and didn't want to pack together, but we did the best we could. After the snowman building was finished we took the sled down the hill a few times.

Go Cougars!

I won tickets on FaceBook to a BYU Football game; they were 50 yard line seats - apparently good seats. I didn't want to go, but thought that maybe Ryan would want to go so took the tickets that I won! Yay...I never win anything! So, Ryan took Megan to the game. It was a cold, rainy, very wet Saturday, but they bundled up and headed out. I have to say that Megan is quite the Cougar fan. Her Uncle Jon and Uncle Shawn have got this girl "brainwashed" to be a Cougar fan. She loves to cheer for the Cougs!

Trick-or-Treat

The past few years we have chosen to paint or color our pumpkins instead of carving them. This is a win-win for everyone. A lot less mess for me and the girls get to paint! We get our pumpkins from the pumpkin patch right by our house; the family that owns it is in our ward and they are very nice people.

The girls were very excited to go trick-or-treating, what kids aren't?!?! This year Ryan and I both got to take the girls out since we are living with his parents they were home to hand out the candy. It was raining on the Utah Halloween (Saturday, Oct. 30th) so we knew it would be chilly. I put sweatshirts on the girls under their costumes and then got all dolled up. Ryan got the Rhino out and drove that around from house to house. The girls got in it occasionally, but mostly they ran from house to house. Morgan was the cutest little Tinker Bell...watching her run from house to house was about the cutest thing ever. She ran on her toes and she really ran from house to house all night long. We stayed out for a couple of hours and then we were ready to go home and get warm. My legs were freezing!

Halloween School Parade

On Friday, October 29th, Megan's school had the annual Halloween Parade. I took the morning off of work so I could help Megan get ready and then go attend the parade. She is always so excited when her dad and I can come do things at school with her, so I try to do it when I can. She got up that morning and was very happy and was easy to get ready. Morgan wanted in on the fun this time and so she got dressed up too. I did Megan's make-up best I could...of course it didn't turn out quite like it did at Gardner Village, but it was still cute. I sprayed lots and lots of glitter on her so she was very sparkly! Morgan looked very cute as Tinker Bell, but didn't want to fly so she didn't wear her wings! *Side note* I was a nervous wreck at the parade...I had a job interview right after so I was going a little crazy (more on this later).

Witches Day Out 2010

One weekend in October I took the girls to Gardner Village for our own little "witches day out". Megan was very excited and wore her costume; Morgan on the other hand wanted nothing to do with hers. So off we went! The girls were so excited to see all of the witches and it was a beautiful day. We saw a few face painting stations and I could tell Megan wanted her face painted so we got in line and her day was made! Again, Morgan wanted nothing to do with it so she stood with me and watched. After they painted Meg's face they sprayed glitter all over and she shimmered in the sunlight. She told me I had to take pictures so we do it again on Halloween. It was a nice afternoon with the girls.

Raptor Honor Roll

In September, Megan came home with a letter saying she had been nominated by her teacher to be on the Raptor Honor Roll. Every month her school has a theme and a student from every class is nominated by their teacher; the theme for September was friendship. They have a little presentation one morning before school where they get a medal. It came time for the presentation so we went. Megan was so excited and I was too. They call each student up one at a time and read what the teacher wrote about the student. I will admit that I had to hold the tears back while I was listening. I was so proud of her and the things the teacher wrote were things any mother would be proud of and want to hear! Here is what her teacher wrote:

"Megan is a wonderful example of Friendship. Megan is respectful to everyone and careful with her words. She says things to help others feel better and never brings them down. When someone is lonely she is one of the first to try to make him or her feel welcome. Megan loves to help others. She is ready and willing to help her teacher and her classmates do their best work. Megan always has a smile on her face and a good attitude about the things she is asked to do. she is a great student. She works hard and always tries to do her best. She is a great example to our class and we are lucky to have her as our friend."

Silly Bands

Have you heard of Silly Bands? Well, if you haven't you must be living under a rock (or not have a child under the age of 12)! If you have, then you know how truly silly Silly Bands are! Rubber bands in different shapes, for $5 a package? Really? Really! Megan and Skyler had a great time exchanging and playing with their Silly Bands conference weekend in St. George. Megan will come home from school and show me which new Silly Band she got that day because she traded with someone or a friend was being nice. I don't get it, but I know my mom never understood Garbage Pail Kids cards and those were the best ever!
